The Ceremony

The Ceremony

The holy matrimony will commence from half past four in the afternoon, 12th of June 2010. We chose to have an exchange of our vows before God at the Franciscan Wedding Church in Cana, Israel, just outside Nazareth. The church is believed to be the site where Jesus performed his first miracle - the changing of water into wine (John 2:1-11).

Private transportation to the church in Cana will be provided to the guests from Hotel Rimonim Mary's Well in Nazareth ( we will soon inform you the exact time).

The Reception

On our first dinner as husband and wife, we would like to enjoy and celebrate it with your company. Together, let's enjoy a night of Arab food at Diana's Restaurant. For more than 30 years Diana has been famous for their spot-on food, specifically their fine kebab. It is one of the best Arab restaurants in Israel!

English version

¡No te hundirás!

Massada

What to see in the Holy Land

The Holy Land, located in the Israeli and Palestinian territories, is rich in cultural and historical heritage, religious sites and beautiful landscapes.

These are some of the sites you can enjoy during your visit. Janette has suggested an itinerary, that is the one we plan to follow, but of course you can make your own one.

Tel Aviv
The capital of Israel, known as "The White City" (the same as Arequipa is called) is remarkable for its Bauhaus style buildings for which it has been declared World Heritage.

Jerusalem
The holiest city contains sacred places for Muslims, Christians and Jewish people, sharing more than 2000 years of history.
The Dome of the Rock is the third most important mosque in the world, after Mecca and Medina and certainly one of the most beautiful. Jerusalem is the place where the Prophet Mohammed went to Heaven.

The Church of the Holy Sepulchre is the most important site in the Christendom, which contains the Golgotha, the place where Jesus was crucified and his tomb.

The Western Wall is the most important place for the Jewish people, all that remains from the Great Temple destroyed by the Romans in the 1st century.

Bethlehem
Close to Jerusalem, in Palestine, the Church of the Nativity commemorates the place where Christ was born.

Not so far from there Herodion is a fortress from the time of Herodes the Great.

Jericho
Also in Palestine, the oldest city in humankind contains important archeological sites, such a mound tomb. Also interesting is the orthodox Monastery of the Temptation, from where impressive panoramas can be seen. A cable car can take you to the top.

Dead Sea
Located 400 meters below the sea level, is the lowest place on Earth. It is called Dead Sea because it is so salty that nobody survives in its waters. The mud in its shore is famous for its medicinal properties. Hey! and you can read a book while lying in the water! You will not sink!

Massada
The most visited place in the Holy land after Jerusalem, it is an impressive fortress perched on top of a hill. This was the last place where the Jews resisted the Romans in the revolt of 70 AD. When the place was finally captured, all the Jewish rebels commited suicide, killing first to their wives and children.

Nazareth
One of the most charming towns in the Holy Land, it still keeps much of its traditional spirit. This is the place where Christ grew up, so ther are many churches commemorating that event, and the city is mainly inhabited by a large population of Christians.

Caesarea Maritima.
The ruins of a magnificent harbour dedicated to Julius Cesar by Herodes the Great. It has a beautiful theatre overlooking the sea.

We hope you will enjoy your visit to the Holy Land!

Nuestra historia

ENGLISH VERSION

Our story

The Proposal

On September 2005, we had a trip to the lost city of the Incas, Machu Picchu. An early morning arrival to the site was just perfect! We enjoyed every part of the main Inca city without the crowd but with the amazing llamas. We then proceeded to a 70 minute ascend to Huayna Pucchu (Young Peak), believe me..., it was a steep climb! Once I got my breath back on top of the clouds, he made the proposal to my complete surprise. And there is when the commitment officially started.

Pilgrimage in the Holy Land

You can begin your spiritual journey as you take your flights to Tel Aviv.

Day 1

Arrival at Ben Gurion Airport. I think it will be worth to have a stroll along the coast of Tel Aviv. Have dinner and stay for the night.

Day 2 - Jerusalem and Bethlehem

Church of Nativity, Bethlehem

Dome of the Rock, Jerusalem

On the first day in Jerusalem you can be exploring some of the key sites surrounding the area. This includes a dramatic view of the Old City from the Mount of Olives, revealing a city with 4000 years of history. From this vantage point see much of what makes Jerusalem such a unique city to the three major religions – Judaism, Christianity and Islam. You can then head to the village of Ein Karem, the birthplace of St. John the Baptist and to the Church of Visitation where the Blessed Virgin Mary visited her cousin, Elizabeth, and proclaimed the 'Magnificat'. In the afternoon we will go to the Shepherd's Fields where the angels announced the birth of Jesus. Then, visit the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem that stands upon the site where Jesus was born. If lucky, you can attend a mass in Bethlehem or the Shepherds Fields. Dinner and overnight at the Jerusalem.

Day 3 - Jerusalem

Begin your day with a visit to the Mt. of Olives to walk the Palm Sunday route stopping at Dominus Flevit, where Jesus wept over Jerusalem. Then to Gethsemane, the Rock of Agony where Jesus prayed His last prayer before his arrest. Visit the cave of betrayal then the cave of Assumption of Mary to heaven. Back on the Mt of Olives we visit the Pater Noster with the Lords Prayer in many languages, and the Ascension from where ascended to Heaven.

Day 4 - Jericho or Massada

At the oasis town of Jericho, you can visit the excavations of the oldest city in the world and view Mt. Temptation where Jesus fasted and was tempted by Satan. On the way back there is time for a swim (or rather a float!) in the mineral-rich waters of the Dead Sea, renowned for its healing properties.

Day 5 - Nazareth, Galilee

A visit to the Basilica of Annunciation and Mary's Well and the Church of the Angel Gabriel. If time permits, we can try a boat ride across the Sea of Galilee to Capernaum to see the synagogue and St. Peter's house, a visit to the Mount of the Beatitudes where the Sermon on the Mount was given, to Tabgha to see the splendid mosaic about the miracle of the loaves and fishes, and to the nearby Church of Peter's Primacy where Peter was told " Feed my lambs, feed my sheep."

Day 6 - Galilee

A visit to Caesarea Philippi will be worth! It is the location of the testimony of St. Peter and where Jesus answered him “You are the Rock and upon this rock I will build my Church.”
